New York's Most Dangerous Big Band

Going from party to party through the quagmire of Hamptons traffic on a
Saturday night can be challenging but when you're headed to Stan Simon's
Diamond Ranch in Water Mill you know you're on your way to a fabulous time.
Hundreds were on their respective ways over to the First Annual Denim and
Diamonds Gala to benefit the American Cancer Society and a wonderful evening
with Master of Ceremonies, and our own "Main Street Series" host, Gina Glickman.

     The western theme was subtle but wooden props marked the 'saloon' where
Glacier Vodka cocktails, Martha Clara wines, Budweiser, and Isbre water was
being served. Throngs mingled through the cocktail hour bidding on a variety of
silent auction items that included Old Gringo Cowboy boots, a day of beauty at
the Gil Ferrer Salon NYC, cashmere from Christopher Fischer, dinner at
Nobu Fifty Seven, a basket from SeaSource Detox Spa, trips from Hampton Jitney,
jewelry from Tiffany & Co., tickets to VH1 Save the Music's Summer of Soul
concert in the Hamptons, a day of beauty at the Kevin Maple Salon, and so much more.
     Before guests could enjoy the sumptuous dinner prepared by Food & Co,
New York's Most Dangerous Big Band got the music started to entice a bit of
pre-dinner dancing. After a welcome by Gina and a few words by Dawn Tropeano
of the American Cancer Society the awards began.

"There was the time Bear took me to see "New York's Most Dangerous Big Band" for the first time.
It was supposed to be outdoors, but rain had driven the concert inside, to a small room at the local arboretum.
We were early, and got front row seats. I was so excited - I've always been a fan of the 1940's, and had never
heard a big band play live before. They started out with "Moonlight Serenade", and all of a sudden I was
surrounded by music, and it was like the color in the room melted away, and I was in a ballroom in the 1940's.
My eyes filled up with tears and I cried through the entire song. The trumpet players, who were sitting about
three feet away from my kneecaps, looked concerned - but there was nothing I could do. It was so wonderful."
