 TOM WILSON - ALTO SAXOPHONE

As a child Tom wore out his parent's LP of the musical "Cabaret" listening to the tenor solo in the "Entr'Acte", so when the time came to pick a band instrument saxophone was the only possibility. Although he chose to pursue a career in oceanography and engineering, Tom's horns have never been far from his heart or hands. When what turned out to be a minor fire broke out in his apartment building during graduate school, Tom left the building with only his cat and his beloved one-owner 1968 Selmer Mark VI baritone sax. Tom plays a Couf soprano, an Evette Schaeffer "Master Model" alto, and the previously-mentioned Selmer bari. He lives in Brightwaters with his wife and two musical children, all of whom are expected to grab a saxophone in the event of an evacuation

Tom directs the Caroling Band at the United Methodist Church of Bay Shore. He has played with the Dowling College Jazz Ensemble, the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Community Symphonic Band, the Good Old Dance Band, the Atlantic Community Band, the South Bay Saxophone Quartet, and of course New York's Most Dangerous Big Band.
