There's danger in the air, and it's wafting into Oakdale in the form of a 20-piece jazz ensemble. Boasting big brass (13 horns at last count) and an impressive electric rhythm section, the New York's Most Dangerous Big Band claims an eclectic song lineup (they're as comfortable with the music of Santana and Norah Jones as they are with the hits of Tommy Dorsey and Sinatra) and a love of big band jazz. This company of cool cats has been working the local circuit for nearly a decade, turning up the heat at weddings, concerts and private parties. Organized by trombonist Edward deCorsia, NYMDBB took its quirky appellation from the fact that many of the band's members happen to have been active and retired police officers. Break out the beach blankets and lawn chairs and dig this free afternoon gig.
